Motion Path

I had a lot of fun with this assignment! It has, by far, been my favorite assignment that we have done thus far. Here is my link. I hope that everyone else enjoys my silly animation!

This relates mostly to NETS T 2a Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning experiences and assessments. a. Design relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools to promote student learning and creativity.

Labels

Boy, I really hope this works. I hunted all over God's creation for the correct link and way to find it. This is the only thing that I could find!!!! But, I decided to label a picture of the lungs. I was a Respiratory Therapy major before so this was something easy for me to label and I figured maybe not many people knew off the top of their head!

Ignite

I decided to do my presentation on clouds. I was watching a friend of mines 7 year old a few weeks ago and we were picking out different shapes that the clouds were forming. She became very interested in what all clouds do. I found a really neat experiment on the Internet that she and I along with my 2 1/2 yr old daughter all did together. She was so excited! I included the experiment as a part of my presentation, it was a very fun activity to do. Of course it was to advanced for my daughter, but the 7 yr old had a blast!!

Jing Screencast

Here is my screencast. This was a really fun and different activity. As dumb as it may sound, I did not know this was possible to do! What a fun and interesting thing to be able to add to the classroom one day!

I chose to do my video on how to set up a blog. I feel that our blog is our most important piece of work in this class, so that is why I chose this topic!

Jing Image

I created a Jing Image of Google Docs by downloading Jing first. I placed arrows and descriptions of the functions that Google Docs can do for you! I was really excited to be using this tool. I have not used anything like it before. Instead of the basic copy and paste I can now Jing or use the snipping tool! After every assignment I keep getting more and more ideas to use in the classroom!

Here is the link to view my Jing.

This closely relates to NETS 3d Model Digital-Age Work and Learning d. Model effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information to support learning.

Google Draw Tool

By going to Google Draw you can access an online drawing tool. This was my first experience with any online drawing tool. I have only used the Paint program that was included on my two computers. When I first looked at the example I was very intimidated. After I started the assignment it was much easier and more enjoyable than I thought it would be. It did take me a few hours to do it all though. I felt it was easy to upload pictures to my drawing, as well as, search for pictures.

The ISTE NETS T standard I feel this reflects is 2. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources. I feel you do "incorporate digital tools" by using Google Draw. I showed this in my drawing. I plan to use this program in my classroom one day. There are many different activities that you could involve in this.

Glogster

I created a glog at glogster Here is the link to my glog.

A glog is an online poster that can be interactive. You can add music, videos, pictures, etc. to it.
A glog is a very "catchy" piece of work. You can get students attention with a glog. If you are teaching on a topic making it into a glog would get the students more interested in the topic. You could also have the students make a glog. By them making a glog they could get many benefits out of it! A glog falls into the ISTE NETS T category: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity. By using glogster students would be able to be very creative in their own way to express a topic of interest. The only problem I ran into with using glogster was I had almost completed it and it would not allow be to move some of the things that were piled on top of one another. I had to start all over, lucky though it had saved my video and I was able to use it again!

This NETS is 5a Participate in local and global communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning.

Self Portrait

Well, my picture looks nothing like myself. I have naturally curly hair so I did the best with what I had to work with in order to show that my hair is a little on the "crazy" side and has a mind of its own. I felt this assignment was fun and unlike any assignment I have ever completed. I did not really come upon any real issues in making this self portrait. The only thing was that the features that were given did not really line up with my features. I tried to add some color to the portrait e.g., I made the eyes green like mine are and the hair brown like mine. I used what I had to work with.

The site I used

My self portrait

The NETS T this follows I believe is Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity. This is all around a fun project to do. Students have the permission to be creative about a project and have fun while doing so.

VARK

My results:
Visual: 6
Aural: 11
Read/Write: 9
Kinesthetic: 5

I feel that my results are accurate because depending on the situation I am in I use different methods to learn things. Aural, my highest score, has to do the most with listening and that is the way that I learn the best. If I have missed classes in the past it really hurts me. I enjoy being in class and learn so much more by doing so. My second highest score, Read/Write, is what I fall to secondly if I am unable to be in a classroom setting. I rely on reading things and writing down information to obtain the answers that I need.
I feel this questionnaire will help being a teacher because it makes you aware that all people learn differently. As a teacher, I will try to bring all learning styles into my classroom for the benefit of each child!
Questionnaire

snipping tool

I used the snipping tool to benefit me when I am teaching. I want to specialize in Reading so that it what I focused on when looking things up on the internet. I found this interactive sight words chart that I think would be nice to use in the classroom. I can also print it off with the site address on it and students can either use the printed off version or use the internet to use the interaction version. I also saved this to my desktop so I am sure that I will remember where it is to use it again!

Voice Thread

I feel that this activity most closely relates to ISTE/ 1 "Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity." I feel this because it has done that for me as a student right now. Voice Thread is such a neat and different way to do assignments, discuss different view points, and use digital tools. I can see myself using this in the class room one day and am very excited to be doing so!

My experience with Voice Thread was only used during this assignment. I have never used it for anything before and was very unsure of what to expect. I found it to be quite a simple tool to use. I hope to one day use it more often with school related projects, whether I am the student or teacher. I recorded my voice thread twice just to make sure that I was doing it correctly. It was a simple as hooking up the mic and hitting the record button.

If anyone would like to listen to my voicetheard!

Google Reader

Well, this was quite an interesting assignment. It took me a little bit of time to all of the topics and choose which two blogs I was going to follow. Here they are, I hope others enjoy them as much as I have thus far:

Tween Teacher
What intrigued me about this blog was when it stated, "This blog is meant to help new educators to the profession, veterans, and second career teachers navigate through this difficult yet rewarding career." I like the fact that there is a Teacher section as well as a Parent section. I feel that this will be helpful to me in both areas. I will be a teacher in the next two years and also have a child starting school. Heather Wolpert-Gawron, the woman that writes this blog, lists many sites for helpful teaching in areas of using the Internet. I am looking forward to reading her blogs on a daily basis and gathering information to take into my classroom one day.

Two Writing Teachers
Ruth Ayers and Stacey Orbitz write this blog together and live over five hundred miles apart. They show different and new technology's that can be used in a classroom. One thing I really like is a way to share your own writings; "practice what you preach." They focus more on writing and English subjects. I am considering getting my masters in reading so I feel this site will be very beneficial. They also give links to books that you can use in a classroom.

I can not believe it but I am very excited to read these blogs regularly. I am very much intrigued by this class and can not wait to see the other possibilities that await me and my future classroom!

Resume

I have completed my resume and sent a copy to Dr. Pierce. If anyone in class would like to view it I would more than oblige to that, I just do not want my personal information made into a public view on the web.
